A spoonful of sugar

I'm finding less and less time to write anything in here right now. I'm finding less and less time for anything much at all. However, with my workload at the office slowly decreasing again after an insane couple of months, I've decided to take tomorrow and Friday off work so that I stand a fighting chance of getting back on top of my (self-imposed) writing and video-editing deadlines.

I still want version 2.0 of the novel - the first version that I'm actually okay with other people reading - finished, illustrated* and printed before the 6th February. I also decided it would be fun to make a 5-10 minute film about my daily routine, from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night. As a kind of memento for later in my life (by which time I'll hopefully have moved onto better things!) and also to bring to Berlin with me next month and show Mike S and Janina what a load of crap they've been missing by not being in the UK. I did some filming on Monday and Tuesday this week, probably worrying several commuters about why that man in the trench coat keeps waving a camera around, and now just have to sit down and swear at my computer a lot until the project is edited.

Another good reason for time off is the fact that I still have my cough. This is the cough from hell and, worst of all, none of my colleagues seem to have caught it off me, despite the fact that I've been hacking my lungs up all over the office since Christmas time - there's nothing worse than suffering this sort of thing alone. I've started taking Berocca tablets each morning in the hope of boosting my immune system, but maybe a long weekend to de-stress and catch up on sleep will also assist my recovery.

* I've not looked closely into this yet. I plan to put one small, black and white line-drawing (of something relevant but not plot-spoiling) at the beginning of each chapter and I have produced a handful of appropriate drawings over the last year or so, but there will be plenty more to ammend/create before I've got each chapter looking presentable. I'm going to worry about this more when the actual text is knocked into shape, though.
