First Day in Xuzhou - June 22nd, 2012

Yesterday was my first day in Xuzhou...and well here are my first impressions. Xuzhou reminds me of Yangzhou and Nanjing. Yangzhou in that there is industry and agriculture aplenty and many shops that have been around for generations still stand. Nanjing in that so many new things are popping up. The Train Station looks like a Train Station you'd find in any big city and there are quite a few universities...and as I'd later experience the next day, historical sites that are in really good shape. The first day I chose to take it easy. I walked around and explored around my hotel...passing through a bazaar that flowed outside a mall selling items from underwear, shirts and charms, to backpacks, arts and yoga mats. I almost got lost before I got re-situated on where I was. Afterwords I skyped for a while, and was very glad that I made time to do so. Later I would grab dinner at restaruant attached to a hotel. It was a good choice. I got broccoli which I'd been craving for some time (since arriving back in China after Spring Festival) and some dried fish with jalapenos and garlic that went with onions and cilantro in a wrap. I had so much food that it would be lunch the next day. After that I took a break and went to bed earlier than usual since the night before I'd had trouble getting to sleep.
