Prologue A/N: This is a all-boys school by the way.
Why? Hyukjae moans in his head, hands clutching at his hair. Why, of all people, did it have to be him? Someone he could never expect something from, someone that seemed so far away. He stares up at the teacher currently describing the human digestive system to the rest of the class. He feels himself heat up again. That tight, black dress shirt, lining the lean form of his body, that skinny tie, that messy head of brown hair that was unintentionally attractive……. Hyukjae groans and buries his face in his hands.
“Hyukjae?” He hears a voice from the front of the room and he quickly lifts his head. “Are you alright?”
“Y-yeah….” He shakily replies, blushing slightly by the contact of their eyes.
“Then would you mind explaining how food travels from your mouth to your stomach?”
Hyukjae stares blankly. “Uh….. you chew and then swallow the food?”
“And then?”
“And then………….it slides down the tube thingy and goes into your stomach?”
The teacher sighs in defeat as a few of his classmates snigger. He sinks down into his seat. Embarrassment rings in his ears as he looks down at his lap. The explanation begins again and his ears absentmindedly pick up words such as “esophagus” and “peristalsis”. Hyukjae fiddles with his pen gloomily.
“So, Hyukjae, through what does your food travel down?”
He blurts out the first word that comes into his mind. “The esophagus?”
“And what is the movement called which pushes the food down the esophagus?”
Hyukjae racks his brains and recalls the second word he heard. “Peristalsis?”
Some of the boys make mocking impressed shouts while the teacher smiles slightly.
“Good, you got it right this time. Pay more attention in class, Hyukjae.”
The rest of the lesson passes painfully slowly, Hyukjae wanting to run into the bathroom and bang his head repeatedly onto the wall for being such a complete idiot, humiliating himself in front of his classmates and his teacher. The bell suddenly rings and he jumps up, packing up his things as fast as he can and rushing towards the door. But then he hears that voice again.
“Hyukjae!” The teacher calls him and motions with a hand. “Come here.”
He trudges slowly over, feeling dreadful but skittish inside, “Yes, Mr. Lee?”
“Here, grab a seat.” The teacher points to a stool nearby and Hyukjae drags it under him.
“You’re a smart kid, Hyukjae, I just hope that you can concentrate. I believe with this intelligent little brain of yours,” he taps the top of the student’s head, “you can surpass anyone in this class. Yes?” Hyukjae nods slightly, finding himself unable to look into the teacher’s eyes.
“I expect your grade to improve at least by ten points on the next test,” Mr. Lee says, a faint twinkle in his eyes despite his stern gaze. “Can you do that, Hyukjae?”
“Ten?!” Hyukjae gapes, finally able to look up, staring unbelievably at the teacher.
“You heard me. Now go to lunch!” The teacher waves him away.
After leaving the classroom, Hyukjae immediately jogs to the bathroom and washes his face. Looking into the mirror as water drips down from his nose and chin, he’s glad to see that his face isn’t too flushed. Then he breaks into a huge smile.
“He talked to me, he talked to me,” he stammers to himself, still grinning into the mirror, a giggle escaping him. Hyukjae stops abruptly and splashes his face quickly with water again. Pathetic, Hyukjae you are just pathetic, he thinks to himself in disgust. Still staring at the mirror, he sighs and smiles confidently, pushing the previous embarrassing event out of his mind and raising a fist. I can do this, he assures himself with a small punch in the air and exits the bathroom.

“Where’ve you been?” Sungmin asks him, setting down his food-filled tray on the cafeteria table with a loud clang.
“Nowhere,” Hyukjae replies as he sits down across from him and eyes the other’s lunch. “You sure you’re going to finish everything?”
“Yup,” Sungmin grins, beaming happily at his portion of food that was double Hyukjae’s size.
“You’re so lucky that you can eat as much as you want without gaining weight.” Hyukjae sighs as Sungmin laughs gleefully.
“Saw you with Mr. Lee. Anything happen?” Siwon appears and joins them, Kyuhyun behind him.
“He wants me to score ten points higher for the next test,” Hyukjae grumbles.
“Ten!?” Sungmin yelps in the middle of taking a bite out of his hamburger, almost knocking down his apple juice. “Is he crazy or what?”
“I dunno,” Hyukjae mutters, poking his salad with a fork. “Kyuhyun, do you think you can tutor me?” He asks hopefully.
“I’ve got better things to do with my time,” Kyuhyun smirks and takes a bite out of his pizza.
Hyukjae snorts. “Why did I even bother asking you.” The four then sit there, munching their food without a word.
Siwon breaks the silence. “Oh right, when are you three going to leave?”
“Ah, you mean for the conference?” Sungmin accidently speaks without swallowing and Hyukjae slaps his arm in repulsion.
Siwon nods as Kyuhyun cuts in, “Next week.”
He sighs. “I’m going to miss you all. Four whole days of boredom.”
“More time for you to read your Bible during break time.” Kyuhyun receives a death glare from Siwon.
“Go hang out with Heechul and the others,” Hyukjae suggests.
“Hold on,” Siwon pipes up, “Of all the juniors, who’s going?”
“Me, Sungmin, Kyuhyun, Kibum, Leeteuk, Hankyung, and Ryeowook….. that’s all I know. The rest are from the other three junior classes.”
“So there’s only Kangin, Yesung, and Heechul left in our class?!”
“I guess.”
Siwon groans. “Having class with just them? When you guys come back, I’d be dead by then with the strangeness of those three.”
The rest chuckle and continue eating quietly until Sungmin’s voice asks, “Kyuhyun, can I have your soda?”

Hyukjae is walking down the hallway, ready to meet the others to take the bus home when Sungmin comes bounding towards him, holding a piece of paper in his hand excitedly.
“Hyuk, hyuk!” He shouts delightedly, waving the paper dangerously in front of his face, “We’re grouped together with Ryeowook in a room!”
“Not bad,” Hyukjae grins, managing to stop his friend’s arm and take the piece of paper from him. “Are we having a teacher as supervisor?”
“Yeah. He’s going to be staying in the same room as us. But I don’t know who it is yet. Is it written on there?”
Hyukjae scans the list and finds their names. “Ah, here. Room 13C, Lee Hyukjae, Kim Ryeowook, Lee Sungmin…..” and his mouth falls open as he hopes he’s seeing correctly and doesn’t have to visit the optometrist to make sure.
Next to their names, in bold print, writes ‘Mr. Lee Donghae’.
