Karal was hungry. He never did have breakfast after his ride this morning, and he'd been so engrossed in reading, lunch had passed him by without him noticing

With Inara gone and the fifth floor quiet, Gavin wandered down to Karal's room and announced himself.

"Sun's Ray!" Well, announced Karal.

"Little Ray!" Aravis called in greeting, as she had been told to.

"Oh kriff," Gavin said and rolled his eyes. "He told you that?"

"May I see your spinny hat?" she asked, giggling.

[sixstandingby]

"I didn't bring it," he said, making a face. "Besides, it's my hat!"

"Karal says it has a thing that's for flying but it doesn't make you fly," Aravis said, marveling.

"Karal's right," Gavin told her. "Your head's too big for the hat anyway."

Not precisely true but still.

"It is not! I just have hair."

That didn't really make sense.

[sixstandingby]

"Poofy hair," Gavin observed. "Very poofy. Like a stuffed animal."

[notqueenyet]

"It is not! It is just curly and wavy and better than your hair which sits on your head like a dead thing that's dead."

"Does not!" Gavin frowned and fluffed his hair with his hand. "It's guy hair!"

"It's boring."

[sixstandingby]

He glared at her and patted his hair. "Yours is grey."

[notqueenyet]

"And you are colorblind," she added.

[sixstandingby]

"Am not," he argued. "I can't be colorblind to fly ships and I fly ships so I'm not colorblind."

"My hair is not grey!"
