I have got to stop posting at work.
There is actually stuff to do at work today. Plus nothing to do at home tonight. Which might lead to resumption of Charmed binge (although we are entering the period where children are harmed by lack of father in house, plus the whole single mom thing with Piper...hmmm...)
I just blitzed through Imprudence, Gail Carriger's latest. I am finally starting to like Rue almost as much as her mother. Agreeable fluff, and EGYPT. Some of the book felt like even more of an homage to the Amelia Peabody books than the first series. So Much Fun. The romance and erotica means nothing to me right now but friendship and female leadership and running off to explore because why not? That's the ticket. In a similar vein I have on hold the next to last Maire Brennan dragon book for audio listening. I love the audio versions of those.
Book Club is doing Sonia Sotomayor's autobiography in October. I have it downloaded but haven't started as of yet. #2 and I got our library cards last Sunday. This is such a rite of passage for me. I don't really live somewhere until I have a library card. They have the same ebook interface (Overdrive) but I'm allowed 15 books instead of just 6, and (don't tell on me) Overdrive allowed me to just add a new library. So I have access to both old and new! Plus the new one has a lot of magazines which you download directly to your Nook (or Nook app)!! I have a new Nook by the way. It was the final purchase with all the Visa cards I got for signing up for cable. My old one didn't stay charged so I gave it to my mom who reads with it plugged in. #2 was having trouble figuring out what books to read for his Accelerated Reading program at school. So I got on the AR website and Overdrive and we boldly went out and sought out new books. He is starting Garth Nix's weekday series. Hope he likes it; it will solve reading issues for weeks, maybe months. Whew.
Parent-teacher conferences this week. I think he's doing okay; I hope they agree. *fingers crossed*
I need to finish that one last story for Babylon 5's Season 2 The Coming of Shadows. I have a neat idea and it's mostly written but the middle meanders, the timeline is fuzzy, and the ending is meh and kind of stupid. *Sigh* It's just a short character piece; I should just tidy it up and post it. I really, really want to finish before we finish the re-watch of S2. Then I will have written a story for each and every episode. Next week is Inquisitor but I'm not re-capping. Then I finish off the season with The Fall of Night. Maybe tonight, or this weekend after the bomb drop I'll finish 'Something's Coming.'
I will be so glad when the bomb drop is over, and everyone, everywhere, including my younger son and the internet at large knows of my marital troubles. Nothing resolved of course, just out there and acknowledged. I have never been any good at dissimulation. I am being extremely cautious and slow about moving ahead with this. It sometimes seems like everyone wants everything settled so I can move on and they can stop worrying about me. But it's a big deal to me. Not only am I not ready to move but am not certain of what direction to move towards. One thing at a time right now.
And right now, that means back to work.
