It's a sunny day in the border state, but a messy ice and snow storm is apparently on its way. I'm sitting at home burning through comp time waiting for a call from the school counselor. #1 son is in a bit of a mess academically and getting at his counselor is like trying to corner a drop of quicksilver. Phone calls, emails, requests for meetings... all ignored. I'm going to have to go over her head. *sigh*

I put off last night's re-watch of Moments of Transition because I wanted to enjoy it and the mood I was in, well. Let's say the StarFire Wheel was looking like a good option, okay? Besides Friday night is a good one to catch up and go forward. I am enjoying taking over the big screen and re-watching with R.

Work is still dicey although there are momentary gleams of sunshine in the gloom. If my technical problems are abating, now we face the task of 're-building the brand' as the marketing people (gag) say.

Still trying to deal with the parent's medical issues long-distance. It's two steps forward, one step back. I think I've figured out the underlying problem but there's no dealing directly with it. I talk to underlings, a different one each time, and get slightly different stories each time as well. I'm going over in February, hope to have it mostly straightened out by them. My original goal was end of last year. Hah.

I'm thinking of joining the Y, at least to try it for a couple of months. #2 son, who needs exercise and loves noodling about in a pool, would have more options there. Our local community center has cut the open swim weekend hours down to 2-5 on Saturday. The rest is taken up with paid lessons, swim team practice, and rentals for birthday parties. In fact the three hours they allow 'the community' can be curtailed at whim if someone rents the pool. It's a lovely space, and very convenient, but we just can't get there reliably in that narrow time frame. There are evening hours but that's tough on school nights.

Took a break there to go try once again to unsubscribe from a Shutterfly group from last year. Good lord those sites have long tentacles. Not to mention the school board. You are automatically sent BOE updates if you're on the PTA board. Which I was. Over three years ago. You have to call a land-line to unsubscribe, which I did. Over a year ago. Still getting the notices.

Waiting, waiting. Maybe I'll go over to the school and wait in person. 'I measure out my life in coffee spoons.'

Indeed.
