One of those days...one of those weeks...

1. I stay late at work on Friday to set up an experiment, come in late on Sunday to move it along, stagger in early on a Monday holiday to do it....

and the experiment fails. Even better, it fails just enough that I have to stay and see it through, all the while knowing I'm not going to get more than a trickle of data out of it. (I could do all five morose entries on work-related items, but So Boring. Onwards.)

2. The dog we looked at last week and finally decided to go for...

got picked by someone else. My own dithering is at fault, and although I still had mixed feelings about the animal, I wince in anticipation of the disappointment awaiting me at home.

3. The ceiling in my office fell in Friday. No damage beyond wet, possibly molding carpet, a mess, a pile of unread papers to pitch, and of course...no heat for the foreseeable future. (Oops! That's work again, isn't it?)

4. No time to write, and I'm up against the fight scene anyway. Though it seems to be devolving into an angry confrontation. (Whatever. Over 10K words and there's not much 'there' there.)

5. Fandom keeps going insane, and not in a pleasant or amusing way. There is no more Sanctuary until Fall (have I mentioned my visceral loathing of cliffhangers?) Doctor Who ended on an 'eh' note rather than a high note (which is still better than Children of Earth.) I am lightly steaming over RTD's last dig at Donna Noble. (He can be a right git, that one.)

Still awaiting the plague of locusts. Stay tuned.
