I've been busy

A lot can happen in 3 weeks. First the bad stuff.
My mom's birthday was Mar 29. It's been over 2 years now. She would have been 86.

Then I got an email from my friend Bruce saying RIP Snorty, 1984 - March 29, 2007. Snorty was one of their horses. I left a phone message but I haven't found out what happened. A couple years ago Snorty did have trouble with foundering.

The good stuff.

Kathleen is home for spring break. She goes back today or tomorrow. It will be her last quarter at UC Santa Cruz. She's said sorry to Stanford and let the U of Washington know she will be attending in September.

Now she just needs a job for the summer. A high level software engineering internship. There are a few on teh internets. Electronic Arts and SRI seem to have real openings. She also came down and talked to our IT director, but it was a more hectic day than usual so I'm not sure what will come of that.

3 weeks ago we got a letter from our vet about her no kill cat shelter. She's burnt out and needs to close it. She pleaded with her customers to come down and look at cats. We were down to 2 after 8-Ball died. We thought a female kitten would fit in best. So we came home with an 8 month old male. His name there was Gandalf. He is not very wizardly, though. Wizarldy, to me means, mature, competent, clever, and intelligent. This cat is klutzy, immature, impulsive and a little neurotic. He is very sweet, though. He's not a lap cat yet but he does like to be petted.

The other cats were not amused of course. Keiko is getting over that a little. They are about the same size and they will play. Mostly chasing each other. Kisa still growls and swats whenever he is near her.

Don is calling him Chase. I'm not quite convinced that that is his name. He seems to come to Kitty the best.

Soccer has started and I scored a goal. A really nice one that got lots of compliments. I took a weak shot and it got deflected right back to my feet at a nice speed. I kicked it back, this time over the defenders and out of reach of the goalie. Our team is doing quite well so far. We don't keep standings but we have 2 wins and 2 ties. No losses.

The weather has turned nice again. I have 20 tomato plants I need to deal with. That means clearing out raised beds or digging new ones.

My beekeeping club had a class. I now feel a little more like I know what I am doing. As soon as I get my order from the bee supply place, I will open up the hive and inspect it. I will also add some more frames for the bees to store honey.
