This last week Houghton once again hosted the US National Nordic Ski Championships. And once again, I was out with camera in hand. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a fancy digital SLR from a friend for the weekend, and it sure was GREAT. Aside from getting some cool pictures, it was neat to see a lot of the same skiers from last year. Kikkan Randall was returning to defend her title. Not only is she the top female skier in the US, but in 2007 she was the first US woman to win a medal in the World Cup. She is also a past olympian and a medal hopeful in the next Winter Games (no US woman has ever won a medal in olympic nordic skiing).
The men's sprint races weren't quite as exciting as last year (no bad wipe-outs), but still fun to watch. This pic is of the #1 US male.
And finally, I got to see the cutest girl on the trail...Kate...I had a pretty big crush on her last year, and even Fran admits she's pretty damn cute. She screams sports-dyke!
So it was a fun weekend, after a short, but LONG three days of work. It's really hard going back after a nice holiday. Plus Scott was SICK. My boss never misses work, and he was out a couple days with a cold/flu. And being the major germophobe that I am, it was hard for me to be around him. Actually, the entire holiday season is a bitch...lots of people traveling and picking up new bugs and wiping them all over. When the students come back there will be another big wave of illness. Ugh. I'm fighting it off I think. Been really tired over the weekend, and on Friday night I was sure I had it. But so far so good. But speaking of fighting it off...I think its back to nap time for me now....
