For those who might be coming early or staying late for VividCon, The Field Museum is hosting the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit. If anyone is interested in going, we could organize a field trip. Heh - get it? Field!

*cough*

Yes.

Other Chicago events and festivals taking place around the VividCon dates:

Jazzin' at the Shedd - The Shedd Aquarium has live jazz and samba bands as you wander about looking at lizards and fish. I have no response to that. Sounds cool, though. Thursday, August 10.

Black Orpheus is playing at The Music Box Theatre Thursday, August 10.

The Tall Ships Festival has its last day on Wednesday, August 9th. You can sail on a wind-powered tall ship, experience the fireworks display, or simply watch the parade of tall ships from Lake Michigan down the Chicago river.

And if you plan to stay through Tuesday, August 15, you can attend the Chicago Outdoor Film Festival at Grant Park with the magnificent skyline as a backdrop. The film on August 15 is The Apartment.

I'm sure there's more going on, but this is all I could think of at the moment. Of course, you could simply head downtown without any plan, and enjoy wandering our fabulous city.

See you all soon!
