Yaknow it doesn't matter that we didn't win. Firstly I had planned to put a fiver on them wining at the beginning of the tournament as a gesture of patriotism. I never got round to it and had we won I would have been cursing as I would have been out £130 odd.
Secondly, sitting on the floor of Yates surrounded by fans of both sides, I really enjoyed myself. I was reminded time and again how it is a better game that foozball, not coz of the rules or whatever but coz of the atmos. The England and SA fans were harmlessly egging each other on, calling them poms and dirty bloody foreigners respectfully then laughing. Afterwards, as most wandered gloomily out, those that were making fun were pumping the hands of the SA fans congratulating them.
Would you ever get that in foozball? Would you even allow fans of both sides into the same bar during a friendly let alone a world cup final?
