I always find it very interesting how different sides portray their history. This poster for a historical exhibition in Istanbul makes the hordes of Turkes who besieged Constantinople outright noble and righteous warriors. Very interesting to compare to Ukrainian or Armenian paintings that don't show Turks in the same kind light.

Picasso makes sense to me now!

By the way, Dina, I have been reading the book on Picasso you recommended, daily. I appreciate that he is a genius in a sense of ability to come up with new ways to see the world and new styles. Unfortunately most of his styles resonate with me as much as this guy:

Wow, coincidences don't stop :)

Apparently Gagossian is doing a show of his latest works. I read a book about (it's about contemporary art in general but he's the biggest thing out there). There is also a very interesting profile on him in the Times from a month or so back - you must read it to put this article into context ( Read more... )
