Tomorrow is the two week anniversary of my getting my nose broken. Which means that for 13 days I've been breathing more clearly than I can remember. I guess I was peripherally aware that my nasal passages were not 100% clear, but now that they are, I can really notice the difference. Honestly, this is the best thing that's happened to me for a long time. I saw an ear nose and throat specialist last week, as per the instructions they gave me at the ER. I told him that I'm breathing much better, and he said it's possible but this is the first time he's seen it happen, so I guess I'm really lucky. He seemed a little surprised that I didn't want him to reshape my nose. "It's slightly off center", he said. I told him it was like that before, and showed him my driver's license to prove it. "I see what you mean," he said. There is a big lump on my nose now that wasn't there before, and I'm not sure it will go away, and it's kind of annoying because I can see it. But there's no way I'm going to let someone basically smash my nose again, just to fit society's notions of what a nose should look like. Besides, what if it re-obstructed my nasal passages. That would suck. Like getting a million dollars and then losing it.
