Just by fluke, I found a piece of information that I probably wouldn't have found if I didn't have to look up so many details for my husband's permanent residency application. One of the things we have to do is include photos of us, of us with other people and in various places, and of our wedding, all with dates, places, and names, etc, of those in the photos. All of this is to prove, of course, that we are a "real" couple.
Anyhow, I'm about to write the name of our wedding officiant on the back of a couple of photos when I think I should double check the spelling of his last name and include his website should "they" (whoever will eventually be going through all this) want to check up on him and maybe contact him.
Well, they won't be able to contact him anymore. He passed away last May, 6 months after he married us. He was only 56. None of what I found mentioned exactly what happened, except that he had been ill. Very sad, he was such a nice person, very eccentric, but that was what drew us to him. We found him on the internet, actually. He belonged to a group of wedding officiants in Windsor that specialized in non-denominational ceremonies. He was very open and allowed us to do whatever we wanted in our ceremony. He loved my idea of having Fairy Girls instead of Flower Girls and he even did a beautiful speech about the Celtic rings we chose. He was one in a million.
