I had a chance to watch another of Dad's Doctor Who DVDs today, this time "The Caves of Androzani," and I have to say that I enjoyed "
Earthshock" much more. Parts of this dragged.
Still,
Peter Davison did some very nice work in what's his final episode as the Doctor, and Peri was still in a stage of her run on the show when she was allowed to seem intelligent and do more than scream, flash her breasts, and be molested by people, although you can see some of the last two here. I enjoyed the actor who had a dual role as the military second-in-command and robot double. Plus, during the Doctor's regeneration scene when he has images of his past companions telling him to be brave and live, his Turlough voice tells him to "survive" (not "live") because his enemies would delight in his death, which is dead-on characterization.
