Long Hard Road
I'm once again in a fandom, this time A Quiet Place: Day One, where what I'm writing seems to be out of step with what other fen in it are (so far) reading and writing. At least it's a thing where I actually enjoy what's being written by other authors, I just can't write it that way myself. A lot of what little is out there on AO3 is somewhat fluffy. Like, character X survives. Terminally ill character has more time than she thought or it's an AU where she doesn't have a terminal illness. A (het) romance ensues. And I get it, because I cried over the movie's ending too.
Meanwhile, I'm reinstating character Y's deleted backstory that makes a romance unlikely, while leaning into the apocalyptic and digging into what it's like being a terminally ill person nearing the end of her life going through this stuff.
Definitely a case where, although I wish otherwise, I'm only writing for me. 🙃

Related, I am really lost for a title for my current A Quiet Place: Day One WIP so I put on a music Shuffle to help. Some suggestions for a title from that were “Subterranean Homesick Alien” (Radiohead), “Rx 4 the Damned” (KMFDM), or “So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish” (A Perfect Circle). The temptation to name it "Prescription for the Damned" is strong but I know most people coming across it won't know my sense of humor. Also suggested by Shuffle was "Long Hard Road" by Sade, but that seems simultaneously too on the nose but also not the point of the fic even if the content of the lyrics is in the neighborhood.
I still haven't decided on a title.
