I finally got to see The Batman, which I mostly enjoyed, though I felt it was too long. I know some viewers were bothered that the Batman wasn't an all-knowing god of knowledge and detection, but I appreciated getting a look at an early-years version, where he's still working out who he is as the Batman and what he does on the job instead of blowing back into Gotham fully formed. I didn't buy a romance between the Bat and the Cat, but I don't think the movie was selling one too hard either. They're work partners with an occasional little bit of sexual tension but he's lost track of being human so he's awkward, which I liked. (I was fine with Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz's versions of their characters, especially Pattinson's with the kind of Bruce and Batman here.)
So thrilled about the black eye makeup that doesn't disappear when the cowl comes off. It definitely adds to the Aesthetic too.
Sometimes Batman's music sounded a bit to me like Darth Vader's, which works with how they're playing off the character here.
That said...
How many times can Batman get shot and it does nothing? Bomb goes off in his face, and he's just briefly unconscious and has no burns, even though the lower part of his face is uncovered. As for his final descent in the flying/gliding squirrel version of his cape? He should've died or been paralyzed. At the very least, have some broken bones and bruises. Seriously. WTF. The Batman is mostly trying for a more grounded--though somewhat noir--and less superhero feel, then this buffoonery keeps happening.
Didn't appreciate the film being cowardly about Selina and Annika's relationship with each other. The occasional usage of "baby" suggests they're together, but aside from that everything else could read as just friends?
It isn't quite the film the
2020 Fandome trailer got me so hyped up for, but I mostly enjoyed it.

Westworld is back for a new season, and two episodes in I have no real idea of what's going on and whether I should feel anything about anyone.

A few more notes about my Thursday morning and afternoon in Manhattan....
While I was walking down Fifth Avenue, I saw a mother, father, and son all dressed in Ralph Lauren Polo polo shirts and shorts, color-coordinated too. I gave them some side-eye.
I haven't spent much time in the 42nd Street area in a long time and found myself surprised in really having to watch my feet on unsteady cobbles, sidewalks, and streets. Fortunately, my ankles held strong through it all.

So these are Versace Uggs, right? Much more expensive ones, I'm sure.
These are huge.
Parts of the chains are connected to belt loops in front. I couldn't see the back of the skirt to figure out how that part of the chain connects. I can't imagine sitting with it like this though.
Amusing description of a gazebo in Central Park on Pokémon Go.
