I picked up the second computer of the same model today when Micro Center finished transferring my files. I was online, the computer did some updates and made me restart, and now it won’t let me connect to my WiFi at all! I did three restarts and the troubleshooting thing twice, at least as much troubleshooting the function will allow me to do without the internet. This is worse than the original machine! HP can’t do a remote fix at all this way so they told me to bring it back to the store.
On the next restart it let me connect, kept me on for ten minutes, dropped me, but let me get back on. It dropped me again 20 minutes later but wouldn’t let me get back on.
Using the computer’s own troubleshooting function has it supposedly fixing everything but two problems it can’t handle, the same ones as the prior machine: 1) Problem with wireless adapter or access point and 2) A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.
So you know and can avoid this model like the plague, this is the HP Pavilion laptop 15-bs131nr, though maybe you should be wary of HP products in general since their updates seem to be weaponized.
