This morning I called HP to tell them the Friday fix, their third, was also only temporary so a manager there said I should return it the store and exchange it for another one of the same model because this one machine may be wonky but the model is good. When the internet connection is working properly, I agree. I went to Micro Center and ended up exchanging it for another of the same model since the only other machine they had with my specs was nearly $200 more, doesn’t have an external drive so I’d have the additional cost of buying an external one, and can’t be seen or tried out because they don’t have a display model. (Salesman: “Imagine this [machine of the same brand] but about an inch wider!” Eeeeh.)
So I’m taking a chance and hoping this new HP laptop will work out. I really hope I made the right decision. Micro Center is doing a complimentary file transfer and will call me when they’re done so I’m currently computerless again. I hope it’s less than three days this time. The guy says I may be able to transfer my Microsoft Office 2016 license. Probably. Hopefully!
Now I just have to find a way to stop myself from stressing out in anticipation of this laptop also being bad when I finally get my hands on it.
