Click, Click, Boom

Supernatural has been boring me so badly this year that I'm barely bothering. At least things are always going on in Gotham, the show where last episode's archenemy could become this episode's best ally--though sometimes it happens within a single episode--and even the mute orphan children are kind of shady.

How many shows would have an actor formerly from Sweeney Todd demanding people eat pies made of people while presenting said pies singing his own version of "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago? While an orphan child in a nearly Victorian little suit plays the triangle next to him.

I miss the Os and Ed Show, but "Things That Go Boom" suggests that things may be heating up again soon. As much as I felt Ed Riddler deserved to get his face shoved in the dirt, frozen alive, and his brain degraded I do feel a bit bad for Ed that the Riddler has come back to poke him. (I loved that Cherry's finally gave Ed the opportunity to indulge his dramatic flair and attention-seeking, though Oswald understandably wasn't thrilled with the form it took.) Lee is more interesting in her current incarnation than she was as Jim's girlfriend, but you can say that about all of Jim's girlfriends.

I'm so glad that things finally aren't going Sofia's way, especially since I couldn't believe Oswald let her string him along that long, though I guess that whole thing with Ed last season might make him vulnerable and needy as well as wary. (Well, needier.) Though it amazes me that people still think they can take advantage on his needy, emotional nature and he won't eventually find out and raise bloody hell on them. He will end you. (Unless you're a child he's imprinted on or you came out of the ice he left you frozen in for months dumber than you went in.)

I'm still wondering if Martin really was playing both sides or was actually Sofia's creature the whole time, though I guess orphans can't be picky and have to look out for themselves, especially in Gotham.

Considering all the betrayals and having Martin now held hostage, I could easily see Os blowing the kid up publicly. But then it turns out that it was a ruse to save Martin and get him in hiding outside of Gotham so he can be safe and (hopefully) can't be used against Os anymore. It also gets him out of Os' company so he can't spy on him anymore in case he actually is... y'know. I know Oswald has selfish reasons along with purer ones for loving that kid, but I awwww anyway. You do you, emotional, dandy-goth crime lord.

Of course, that move could still go horribly wrong. This is Gotham, after all.

Why did Jim think Sofia wouldn't come back after he put her on a train? Seriously, dude. You're being more moronic than usual. And can criminals stop doing the "we're the same!" thing with Jim? It's so old.

I'm curious to see how much say Sofia has in her new alliance with Tabitha, Barbara, and Selena. Loved Selena's "Lady, you lost" to Sofia.

When I started this season I had no idea how much I would come to love Zsasz. His sarcasm, his enthusiasm in killing things. His joy when Os lets him use a missile launcher on their enemies.

I want Harvey back, because he's a good contrast and often reality check on Jim and because he's fun. I'm mildly curious what happened to Ivy.

So the Narrows is Roosevelt Island as a slum?

Mid-season finale Thursday!
