I took my car into Manhattan tonight for a photo run, since I hoped some Chinese New Year windows would be up. My car made it through, though the last two times I started it in the city it sounded weak and scared me a bit. I took some shots at Bergdorf and Saks, which had some stuff I liked but nothing that knocked me out.
My iPhone shut down after using the camera a few times while the power was at about 80%(!), so there's definitely something wrong. I don't know when I'm going to be able to do a factory reset of my iPhone since even with high-powered wifi, in a place that's not available anymore, it took two hours and had several very scary moments that took years off my life. I don't know how many more hours it'd take trying it at my local library.
Otherwise, I might have to buy a recharger to carry with me, since the phone only needs a jump to restart and shows the original power once it's back on. Since I don't have that, I couldn't get my phone working until I made it back home and fortunately didn't have any car trouble requiring a call to my insurance company or a garage before that. (It was too late at night and too many parking opportunities required a significant money drop for me to legally and safely park on the street for a sizable slot of time to get into a store that might have an available power outlet. $4 an hour, with an hour the smallest amount of time you're allowed to get, to park on the street in Midtown until midnight on Saturdays, my ass. If you're wondering, I parked *cough* illegally and shot windows guerilla style, but I had to do it fast.)
I was out driving early enough though that I ran into substantial traffic in a few places. I find that shouting phonetically along with German lyrics to propulsive German industrial music is very satisfying when you're trying to pull away from traffic congestion.
I pulled my iMini out of storage and have been using it lately in addition to my Nano for car trips, since I try to save my iPhone's power for other things like photography and Pokemon GO. I thought of selling the Mini once, but looking at places that I bought them I saw that even with the then extra piece to adapt to outlets it was only worth about $13 so I decided to keep and use it myself. It holds a selection of my old music, so it's kind of like a Viridian5 oldies station. I really wish iTunes had a function that let me know if songs were already on my other devices without me having to check each song individually; I keep the selections separate per device by syncing them with different playlists. But Apple probably wants to discourage people from using all their old devices, the better to have them upgrade to something new and expensive with enough expansive space to carry their entire music selection. Thus, curating is laborious but I do my best.
It's sad that Nine Inch Nails' "Capital G" applies to the head of our government again. I became complacent over the last eight years.
