On the Road of Life

Three and a half weeks after spraining my left ankle, I took a 2.34 mile walk through my neighborhood today with an ankle brace on, no podiatric boot or cane, because I was feeling like a sloth from all the keeping off my feet I've had to do recently. I had some pain at times, though sometimes that's just from the brace, and some occasions when I didn't feel entirely balanced, though some of that might be from how the season and temperature change have occasionally made me feel lightheaded lately, but I think it was a success. I don't know whether I should thank putting compression on it as soon as I got home from injuring myself, the way I've so frequently damaged that ankle that it's more flexible already, both, or something else for the fairly quick recovery.

I also desperately need a new pair of walking shoes, since mine have major wearing/damage on the soles, (hilariously) the worst on the left shoe, but I've been putting it off since my comfort and support shoes that I wear daily are pricey by my standards, at $133 a pair two years ago when I last bought them, and I've already had a lot of unexpected expenses I've had to put on my credit cards recently. With my spinal and balance issues, I need good shoes. (Plus I have to resume my car search soon since my Civic has good days, eh days, and "oh God am I going to make it home?" days, which has seriously curtailed the length, distance, and times of day of my travels in it.) What else is new?
