Because of Course I Did

Sep 17, 2016 04:07

Feeling restless and the night feeling like comfortable autumn (and I was in a lot of head pain and had some GI issues Monday through Wednesday and barely got out of bed those days), I decided to go for a neighborhood walk around 2 a.m. I had a small, slow fall when I turned my left ankle on uneven pavement but I only had a little swelling and I'm ( Read more... )

Sosorry you fell, hopefully the ankle is just twisted. Feeling restless here too, it's 11 pm and ...the weekend looms. Need to get out more, I guess.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it looks pretty bad. With all the swelling, I have a cankle instead of an ankle. I'm using a cane around the apartment when I'm not resting.

Learn from my example and be careful when you go out. *g*

Hope your ankle heals quickly and you don't hurt for too long. Falls are so scary.

Thanks. This hurt, but not as badly as some of my past falls so there's that.

I hate it when I hurt myself. Well, I hate it when I'm hurt, in general. You sure you don't want some doctor to check it out, just in case?

Maybe Monday. On the weekends private doctors' offices have very few hours or are just closed, while hospitals have less staff and do things even slower than usual.

I'm resting, wearing the compression brace, and using a cane at home. The compression helped decrease swelling but you can tell just by looking at the ankle that it's seriously injured. It may be sprained.

Waiting until Monday doesn't sound like such a bad idea, seeing that it's not a life-threatening injury. You can reevaluate the situation in a couple of days and get an appointment if necessary. Hope you get well as soon as possible!

Thanks! I even still have a special podiatric boot from one of my past sprained ankles if I need it. The cane I'm using is another memento from a past ankle sprain.

Your ankle is probably fine if you can move your fingers. Unmoving fingers is a first symptom of a more serious injury like ligamentous disruption.

I can move my toes fine. I can even walk on it, though it hurts badly and I'm trying to avoid putting weight on it in its early stages. It's massively swollen and bruised, so I'm wondering if it's sprained. I have a physical therapy appointment Monday for my usual condition, so I'll present my ankle to my therapist to see if he thinks there are things I should be doing to and with it that I'm not already.

It's swollen so huge. I'm stunned by how much visible damage there is when the fall itself didn't hurt as badly as some of the falls I've taken in the past few years.
