The Lights, the Lights, the Lights
The sheer mass of Christmas window photos I took, about 300, was intimidating me so badly that I wasn't tackling them to choose, 'shop, and post, so I've decided to take them on in sections to make them more manageable. What I just put up at my Flickr account and my deviantArt is Bloomingdale's and part of Saks Fifth Avenue's window series, 26 photos in all. The majority is a fairy tale series in Art Deco style featuring some New York City landmarks.
While it was bitterly cold the night I shot at Bloomingdale's, the night I shot at Saks it was so warm and humid that I was running around without the motocross-style jacket I'd brought with me, thus shooting Christmas windows outside in a short-sleeved T-shirt.
Last night's Empire State Building's light colors were stripes of white, red, and purple-blue, with the purple blue lights seeming to dance, possibly to a song I wasn't aware of. (Sometimes they do set light movement to music, as they'll apparently be doing December 12 for Z100 Jingle Ball Music-to-Light Show at 7 p.m.) I just found out that there is a webpage explaining the color meanings, which revealed that the "red, white and blue sparkles" were in honor of the visit of Their Royal Highnesses and will run through the night of December 9, so the "dancing" was just meant to be "sparkling."
