First Lines

Dec 01, 2008 01:09

This flirts with coherence now and then, though not for long.

Put your MP3 player on shuffle, and write down the first line of the first twenty songs. Post the poem that results. The first line of the twenty-first is the title.

"Video Games Train the Kids for War"

This is very poetic, in a Rain-man stream of consciousness way *g*

Man, I know so many of these songs, it's killing me that this isn't the guess-the-song meme. :D

Is that Howard Jones I see in there?

Yep! I picked up a lot of his albums in the early 90s... which means a lot of them are on cassette. I have a few on CD.

I have his first 4 albums on cassette because I bought them when they came out in the '80s. His albums kept getting busier and busier, though, and when I could barely hear him on his own album (#4), I quit buying them. The first 2 are still my favorites of his.

I'm just about to start thoroughly weeding my cassette tapes (my last working cassette player died), so I'll have to give some thought to how much I want to replace them. Replacing the Peter Gabriel cassettes, on the other hand, is a no-brainer.

I have One to One and In the Running on CD. I've rarely seen the others, especially the one that has the version of "No One Is to Blame" I prefer. I actually picked up the MP3 of it from someone online.

I tried this just to see how it would come out...not pretty. One line in German, one in Romanian, and none of them even come close to making two lines work together.

That would make things more difficult, yeah. *g* None of my German stuff came up when I did this meme.

Your music memes are always so much fun to do!

Of course, my music collection being what it is, my results made absolutely no sense whatsoever. The fact that 20% of it is in Japanese and another 20% is in German doesn't help either... ^_^;;

Thanks! But the credit has to go to my friends list.

I skipped the one instrumental that came up during my Shuffle. Actually, your poem could be part of anime, since they have random lines of English in their theme songs at times and seem to like to use German.

That's true about the random English. It's even funnier when the English parts are sung with a heavy Japanese accent.

I went back today and did some rough translations of the German and Japanese bits and it actually makes a lot more sense like that. I guess you need to be a polyglot to appreciate the stuff my playlist comes up with.
