"I'm expecting some very charming excuses to melt my cold suspicions...."

One of the things that helped me get through my lack of computer time was the release of Trinity Blood volume VI. Good times.

* I got all emotional over Ion's talk of "someone so dear" to Tres until I realized that he probably meant Lady Caterina.

* Thank you for getting past Esther being terrified of Abel's Crusnik form in fairly quick order. Even by Esther's standards, she was being immature. It's nice to see Abel coming to some sense of peace with it himself, even as it annoys me that it's Esther's acceptance that does it. Even so, even my blackened heart was touched by her placing her hand over his beclawed one.

* I'm really glad the manga gives us a look at the person Lilith was. The anime didn't give me a clue.

* Tres' eyes are finally fixed. Finally. Jeez. They were damaged in volume III! I'm still pissed that the professor felt that grading papers was more important than restoring an operative's sight. Even though the professor calls him his son, he treats Tres more like a pet. I'm not terribly fond of the "mad," maniacal scientist types (like Anissina or Yutaka Watari), and the professor is really low even on that list.

Though I do miss the darker eyes the burn-out gave Tres. And I'm dying to see him use the new eye lasers.

* Ah, Dietrich. You really are an evil bastard.

* Ion is in a miniskirt. Hee. Hee. Hee hee hee! Nice legs, kid. But, damn it, why do he and Abel have to start having a crush on Esther? The manga avoided it for so long that I started to hope.

* Hugue as a beautiful, weird disaster really appeals to me. Yeah, Esther, the AX really is a freakshow mostly filled with beautiful but strange men.

* Abel's escape skills impress me. Ah, the old "dislocate the shoulder" trick. Also, glasses to pick locks for the win.

* I want to smack Esther for that headbutt. He's scared and ashamed partly because of things like you hiding in the infirmary in terror after you saw Crusnik.

* Swordfighting, miniskirted Ion for the win. Nice short-shorts, kid.

* Anies was Hugue's younger sister. Hahahahahaa! Suffer, Ion.

* I like Astharoshe more having her introduced as a hotheaded ally further down the line instead of as a destructive, annoying brat.

* Aaaaand Ion and Esther fall on each other as a prelude to romance. Why are you so obsessed with doing this, Japan?

* Astharoshe having a tiger just makes her more faaaabulous. Really.

* The bath scene amuses the hell out of me, 1] because Astaroshe and Esther spend the whole time topless without the usual coyly careful placing of hair, steam, foliage, etc. and 2] because Astaroshe has nipples but Esther doesn't. Is #2 some kind of ingenue thing?

* I love Astaroshe yelling at, lifting, and shaming Ion out of his tearful funk. It's funny how much better she's coming off to me in the manga.

As usual for the Trinity Blood manga, I enjoyed the afterwords. I like my manga makers to come off as running on sugar and crack! Kyujyo drawing her and her staff as Trinity Blood characters adds to the fun for me, especially as she shows up as a smaller and slimmer Brother Petros. The funniest to me is the second phone round of Kyujyo versus her dad. He's glad she put Esther in a miniskirt as he'd asked, especially since it distracts from the bowl cut. He ends the call before she can tell him that he's probably talking about Ion. Another strip, titled "It's not a skirt, it's a waistband," lets us know that we can blame or thank inker Tsukasa for Ion wearing the miniskirt with bare legs because Tsukasa's soul broke when Kyujyo told him Ion's legs should be dark with tones or solid black.

Kyujyo also reveals that when she and her staff reach "carnage and climax" scenes they often start singing, usually something from Dragonball. Such glorious dorkitude warms my heart.
