I've finally gotten my checks from my insurance company for my December visit to The Chiari Institute, and the amount of compensation is ridiculously low. My insurance company claims to cover 60% of out of network visits, but for the TCI bills they only paid $490 total on a $1,250 bill because they claim TCI is "too expensive by the standards of my geographical area." I called to appeal, but they say I need to appeal in writing.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to fight this and word the letter (when I finally have a computer I have time to compose letters on again)? I was thinking of hammering how TCI is full of people considered experts on my condition and demanding evidence of what the prices are in my "geographical area." Should I deposit the checks now or wait until I hear the result of my appeal?
