I want to thank all of you for your thoughts, wishes and love. It certainly has helped. I let my father know you all sent your wishes as well, and he sends his thanks, too. He is out of the hospital and generally really positive about how things will proceed. His doctor is also very optimistic about everything. It was caught very early and hasn't spread anywhere else. So, he will see an oncologist soon and get some more input on how to continue monitoring/treatment.
