Happy Mother's Day!

May 09, 2009 23:43

So...where was I? Ah yes, my definitely boring birthday evening that started with me having to cancel my meet up with Junita and then having to cook dinner. Afterwards, I was completely knackered and slept for most of the remainder of the day. When I wake up, it was back to nursing duty which now includes being a physiotherapist cum masseur. T.T The best thing was that my dad can walk for a short distance without support so yay!

Considering today's Vesak's Day, here's a shoutout to all: HAPPY VESAK'S DAY AND HAPPY HOLIDAY! :)

And since tmr is Mother's Day...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL MOTHERLY PEOPLE.

I actually celebrated Mother's Day early this year at Carousel's. Considering my grandparents were the main guests of honor, it meant wearing spiffy outfits. Haha - not that I dislike dressing up but sometimes, having rather superficial grandparents can be rather stress-inducing. Anyways, I woke up early and went down to get flowers at Far East Flora (god, I have forgotten how freaking frigid it is inside that cold room). Thank god for my lovely lovely uncle and aunt who went down with me. :D

Afterwards, I spent about two hours plus frantically de-thorning, arranging and trying to make bouquets. My first attempt was a complete disaster and it was only after my mum helped that I actually felt somewhat pleased. Gah, i keep hearing Dr Koh's words ringing in my head during open house preparations (when it turned out that I was the slowest at cutting up paper into strips):

"Ah, Khairul, I can see that you'll be using more of your brains than your hands when you work in the future. You're not very good using your hands."

Sigh... I need to believe that I can do it with my hands lest it becomes prophetic eh. (Or rather, self-prophetic but that's a whole different issue altogether).

Alright, fast forward to about three pm and soon, we were at Carousel for high tea. I'm glad that my grandmother said that I looked nice - it meant that she was pleased. Lol. I found the high tea spread not as interesting as dinner. There were a couple of decent pluses (like the carrot cake 8D) but on the whole, I was rather dissatisfied with the food, particularly the nasi lemak. Considering I had nasi lemak from Adam Rd for breakfast, I barely finished the portion I took. I was just uber glad that the receipients of my bouquets were happy with my substandard work.

After we had our fill, my uncle brought us around Singapore, cruising through town and then it was off to the Marina Barrage. Omg, the insufficent parking lots and the coxcomb pair of traffic police who happily fined countless cars that were parked along the side of the roads made my blood boil. Thank goodness I wasn't driving. *rolls eyes* Marina Barrage is definitely a great spot to watch the sunset though so I guess it was all worth it in the end.

Since we weren't exhausted after having toured the entire place, my uncle drove off to Telok Blangah - I was BEGGING him NOT to bring everyone to Telok Blangah Hill Park. He smiled and thankfully went to Mt Faber instead and went off to the old railway station for dinner.

Singing classic love songs at the top of one's lungs during the entire time we were in the car, today proved to be a splendid day.

Best part? I think I got my writing groove back - although it's actually the last part of my qmimin's saga, although I AM quite weirded out by the fact that the plunny has happy Qmi. Like wth. Ah well, off to write!

Toodles.

PS. Don't forget to enjoy your weekend (and the free public holiday if you have it on Monday).

Me? I'm gonna graduate~!
