I skipped most of school on Friday to have breakfast with my Aunt Kathy. She's in town from Richmond for a few days. I love her.
I'm probably approaching the illegal absence amount already with more than two thirds of the semester left. Bahhhh. I don't want to do it, school. I want summer and then fall. Spring can go away.
You know, I'm becoming more of a moderate in my old age. I'm still an anti-capitalist at heart (who isn't?) and that's not 'moderate' - but I'm talking within the American spectrum or system (which I guess might be the difference - I'm willing to accept the 'system' as a starting point) - I'm a moderate. I like people like
Bob Casey, a pro-life (Catholic) Democrat who is challenging Rick Santorum. If he wins (he better), that'll make him the second (I think?) pro-life Democratic Senator, Reid being the first. What I want to and think will happen is that 'pro-life' will drift from being a GOP position to being a position that any Democrat or Republican might take up. There are a few prominent Republicans who are pro-choice. I want a Democratic Party (or a party period, Republican, whatever) of the working class. Not the Democratic Party of the enlightened that scoffs at southern simpletons.
I like the fact that Stephen Colbert is a practicing Catholic. And I need to get into the habit of watching the "Report" and even the "Daily Show" nightly again. To help pass the time 'til May!?
Oh, Chad Hedrick won the gold for the 5000m, by the way; that was great to see. And yes, that is the Chad Hedrick of my very own Spring Creek Oaks, of the very roller rink which is about sixy yards from my home, whose mother played tennis with my mother, whose father drank beer with my father. I'm famous.
And Tulane beat Tech in a great game. My dad and I may go downtown again today for the Tulane versus Texas game. But, I don't know, Sundays are down days for me.
Look at me. Talking about sports!
