two tall glasses of sweet iced tea, underneath the sweet gum tree

I feel a great need for a quick, sketchy update. So,

Tonight I've been taking it easy.

My sister is home for reasons unbeknownst to me.

I'm going to attend St. Edward's next year where I plan to study either biology (and then ecology in grad. school) or english; one of the biology professor's research areas is forest ecology, so that's nice. They gave me some scholarship money which will end up paying for one year, roughly, but I still need to send in (or fill out or whatever is appropriate here) my FAFSA! On the roommate survey, I preferenced for someone who is interested in ecology (this was actually an option.. next to things like art and music, I was real excited), likes jazz, is somewhat tidy.

We're reading Virgil aloud in latin. It's fun. He wrote like three lines a day, tops.

I like Frankenstein. When I get the chance, I've been reading The Inferno.

I have a lot of homework this weekend. After having managed to do nearly no homework since Christmas break, I'm a bit upset. I need to bring my english grade up to passing at least (I haven't been doing my work! zeros)! I had senioritis before this semester (and before this year) - I must have... ultra-senioritis.. lame.

Off to watch a movie with the sister. I'll finish this post later!

edit i: So my final rank was fourtwentyfour (I think?)! Hah. 49th percentile. Hahaha. Which is perfect. Minimal minimal work and I'm happy with the university I'm going to. A lesson for the kids out there: don't work too hard (unless you have big aspirations (but then I advise you to question your big aspirations)). Grad. school is more important as far as an academic career goes (then there's the question of being admitted to graduate school of your choice, I guess); and more than that, in most professions, I'd think what you do is more important than your education. A legitimate case (for working extra hard) that comes to mind would be need or want for/of scholarship money. I think my parents want me to pay them for some of my education once I'm able (if I'm ever able) - St. Ed's will be more expensive than the sister's A & M.
