Summary: The International Extras Academy is a school set aside for a race of super-humans called Extras who each possess a gift called a Legacy. Cho Kyuhyun is a new student, studying there to finish his last years of training as a Weather Extra. He expects to make friends and learn everything he has to know. But what he doesn't plan for is Lee Sungmin, the most powerful Extra in the world.
Discovering the Universal
Chapter Twenty-three
Kyuhyun waited for Evolution of Extras to start, bored out of his mind. Professor Park was late to the class and Changmin and Kibum were busy trying to outsmart each other in a game of Chopsticks. The Weather Manipulator had a quick internal debate on whether or not he should put his head down and sleep. Sleep won. Before Kyuhyun had the chance to drop his head in his hands and go to sleep, Professor Park walked into class and cleared his throat loudly.
“Good day, class. Sorry I’m late. My Fire Elemental son nearly put a hole in our roof. I apologize for the delay,” Professor Park said. The class murmured in sympathy, all of them familiar with Heechul’s pyrotechnics. “I’m sure you’re all excited for this part of class where we talk about Potentials once more.”
Professor Park put his briefcase onto his desk and turned to face the class. Once again, Kyuhyun watched all the girls sit up straight and pay close attention. He hid a smile. Sungmin had not yet appeared in class. Kyuhyun wondered where he was. He wanted to see the Universal. He missed him and it had been less than twelve hours since he’d last seen Sungmin.
He gazed around the classroom, ignoring the discussion as he wondered when Sungmin would show. His gaze fell on his two friends. For some reason, Changmin and Kibum also looked fairly interested in what the professor was saying. For them to be interesting, it must be important.
He tuned back in.
“…serious topic. It involves the consummation of the relationship between Potentials and Promiseds. For those who don’t have Potentials, this is not a worrisome topic. For those who do, you have to listen to this,” Professor Park said.
Kyuhyun wondered what he meant. He looked sideways to the seat next to him. Sungmin still wasn’t there.
“…survival of one of the partners.”
Half of the class gasped. Kyuhyun wondered what he’d missed.
“Wait,” Kibum raised his hand, “if we don’t find our Potential, will we die?”
Kyuhyun blinked. Die? What on earth were they talking about?
Professor Park shook his head, “No, that won’t happen. Potentials and/or Promiseds only need to consummate their relationship if they’ve met each other, recognized it, and confirmed each other. This is done by physical contact, otherwise known as the first kiss. From there, the relationship must be consummated.”
The Weather Manipulator made a mental note to pay attention again.
“What I mean by this,” Professor Park explained, “is that the partners must have intercourse. This seals the bond between Potentials and Promiseds and allows the Legacies to feel and affect each other. If the relationship is not consummated in time, the weaker Potential or Promised will die. It’s a way of making sure that weak Legacies are not allowed to keep continuing.
“It does not occur often that a Potential has died from not completing a relationship but it does happen. Mostly it happens because of uncertainty. Legacies are complex parts of us. If a Legacy senses that it cannot get to its other half physically, then it will cease to exist. It is not determined how much time passes before an Extra dies of incomplete consummation but it varies. For some Extras, it can be up to years. The more common the Legacy, the longer time you have. For the more uncommon Legacies, the time is usually half a year.
“Of course, for Uniques, the time is different, being unique and all. Their partners need to prove themselves strong enough to handle those Legacies and fast. Evolution is very quick for Uniques because of their great power. For Uniques, the time is a month.”
Kyuhyun swallowed hard. He had first kissed Sungmin precisely a month ago. Their time was up.

Kyuhyun found Sungmin in the library. The Universal looked tired and drawn. His face was clouded and he looked preoccupied.
“You weren’t in any classes today,” the Weather Extra said.
Sungmin sighed and shrugged. “I got busy doing other things. What did we learn about?”
“Consummation of Potentials and Promiseds.”
There was a crash as the books Sungmin was levitating fell to the ground. He looked at Kyuhyun with something like fear in his eyes.
He swallowed and murmured, “So…you…you know?”
The Weather Manipulator nodded. “Our time is up, Sungmin.”
The Universal looked away, a faint pink flush crossing his cheeks. Then it vanished and a hardened expression came over his face. He looked at the sky, his eyes narrowed before turning back to the Weather Manipulator.
And…” Kyuhyun trailed off before he took a deep breath and continued, “…I don’t want to die.”
Sungmin looked at him and a soft smile crossed his face and for the first time that day, Kyuhyun saw that the Universal looked truly happy.
“You don’t have to worry about that, Kyuhyun. You’re not going to die.”
The Weather Extra blinked. “What?”
“You’re not weak. You think you are but you aren’t. You can control your Legacy and make it bend to your will. You’re powerful. You’re not going to die. I will.”
Kyuhyun’s mind raced. Sungmin was going to be the one to die? But he was a Universal. He was the strongest Extra alive.
“The more rare the Legacy, the less time,” Sungmin recited, reading Kyuhyun’s mind. “You don’t have to worry.”
Anger coupled with worry surged inside the Weather Extra. “So what?” he demanded, his voice shaking. “You were just going to not wake up one day and hope that I didn’t notice? Is that it?”
Sungmin looked surprised. “I’m not worried, Kyuhyun. I’m going to die one way or the other. Everyone does. If I don’t accept this, it will be okay.”
“If you don’t accept this, you’ll die!” Kyuhyun shouted. He couldn’t believe this. “What about me? What about the way I feel? You’re going to die!”
“So what if I do?” Sungmin shot back.
“What?” Kyuhyun breathed in shock.
“Nobody will care if I die. It’ll just mean that another Unique is gone from the planet. Do you think it hasn’t happened before?” Sungmin spat. “I’m an X-Class Extra. Do you think that some people don’t hunt us out?
Kyuhyun stopped right before he was going to retaliate. His brain stopped working and then started again. He vaguely wondered how it had gotten from having sex with Sungmin to this.
“Hunt…wait…what?” Kyuhyun stammered as his brain tried to process what Sungmin was saying.
“People hunt us down and try to kill us. Some people think we shouldn’t exist. That we’re too powerful and shouldn’t be allowed to live. Of course, those who hunt us down…don’t often survive,” Sungmin said, his voice turning sorrowful.
Kyuhyun didn’t want to ask it but his mouth half-spoke. “Has anyone…?”
“Ever come after me?” Sungmin asked, finishing the question and looking Kyuhyun in the eye.
The Weather Manipulator nodded. “Yeah.”
Sungmin looked angry for a second and then utterly devastated. “Yes. More than anybody would think. And each and every one of them…” he trailed off.
He didn’t have to say anything more. The Weather Manipulator knew exactly what happened to everybody who had ever come near Sungmin. He stepped closer to Sungmin and put his arms around the Universal’s body.
“I’m sorry. Sungmin…I’m sorry,” Kyuhyun murmured as if his apologies would excuse the Extras who had tried to kill him.
“I did what I had to,” the Universal whispered. “I didn’t want to die.”
Kyuhyun crushed the smaller man against him. Sungmin had feelings, he had dreams, he had desires, just like any other Extra. Just like any other man. He was a powerful Unique but that didn’t mean he should be punished for it. His Legacy was not his choice.
“Sungmin…you need this. We need this. I don’t want you to die,” Kyuhyun breathed.
Sungmin looked up at him, his eyes dark. There was a moment of silence between them before the Universal stood on his toes and kissed Kyuhyun hard.

Despite what he’d like people to believe, he had very little relationship experience prior to Sungmin. The most experience came from two cheek kisses from a girl in elementary school who was ecstatic that he’d changed the weather for her.
Kyuhyun had very little idea of how to properly kiss or hold someone. If he had been human, Kyuhyun probably would have been labelled the worst kisser in the entire world. Thankfully, he had the fortune of being an Extra and when relationships came into the equation, his Legacy knew how to take care of it. He knew how to hold, kiss and caress Sungmin without even thinking about it.
That is how he found himself in the Universal’s room, his mouth attached to the side of Sungmin’s neck, biting gently. The Unique Extra arched back, exposing more of his creamy skin. Kyuhyun sucked on the skin, leaving a purplish mark.
He found his way to Sungmin’s bed and lay the Universal on it, looking at him tenderly. Sungmin looked back at him and Kyuhyun couldn’t hold himself back. He covered the Universal with his body and kissed him deeply. His Legacy reacted swiftly, building up inside of him. In the distance, he heard a faint clap of thunder.
He opened his mouth and licked the Universal’s bottom lip. Sungmin opened his mouth in surprise and Kyuhyun gently stroked his tongue, tangling them together. The warmth of Sungmin’s mouth made him groan with want and he pulled apart the Universal’s shirt beneath him.
Sungmin’s muscular chest was exposed to him and he ran his hands over the pert, brown nipples, causing the Unique to gasp and arch into his touch. He quickly divested himself of his own shirt, making sure to keep kissing Sungmin’s body. He wanted their clothes off and now. A soft pattering of rain hit the window.
Within moments, the two of them were naked, flushed and pressed close together, relishing the feeling of skin on skin. Sungmin wasted no time, He reached up for Kyuhyun and pulled him close. A soft kiss was placed on the Weather Manipulator’s neck and he shuddered. Sungmin pulled back and looked at him for a moment and then his eyes took on a sharp glint. He reached for Kyuhyun again.
Sungmin’ tongue traced curves, lines and hollows. His hands danced and outlined Kyuhyun’s body, bringing sounds that nobody would ever think he could make. God, Kyuhyun wanted him, he needed him. He had to be with him. Sungmin’s ministrations teased him and made his body feel alive.
He coated two fingers with saliva and with a questioning look at the Universal, positioned himself at Sungmin’s entrance. The Unique nodded, a look of nervousness on his face as he realized what Kyuhyun was about to do. The Weather Manipulator breathed in and then pushed a finger in.
Kyuhyun would never be able or want to explain the expression on Sungmin’s face. The Universal had a look of wonder, pain and pleasure. His eyes were open and his lips were parted in a silent gasp. Kyuhyun gently inserted another finger. Sheet lightning flashed soundlessly.
He didn’t know how he knew what to do but his Legacy guided him through it. He stretched the Universal, slowly but steadily, making sure to bring him pleasure. His Legacy told him to be careful, to make sure that he didn’t hurt his Promised. Kyuhyun obeyed, enraptured by the noises that Sungmin was making.
His Legacy urged him on, pushing him to fill Sungmin with something else. He withdrew his fingers and moved forward, capturing Sungmin’s mouth with his own. The Universal’s hands came to rest on his shoulders and pulled him closer, his tongue stroking Kyuhyun’s.
“Take me,” the Universal whispered.
Something snapped into place inside Kyuhyun and his Legacy flamed inside of him. It was time. He was going to bind himself to his Promised.
Neither of them could breathe properly and Sungmin had to remember how when Kyuhyun gently pushed inside of him. The younger male gasped as warmth enveloped him that he had never felt before. His eyes shut tightly as the feeling of Sungmin around him made him throb. A bolt of lightning sparked through the sky and thunder followed quickly.
“God, Sungmin, you feel wonderful,” Kyuhyun said in a strangled voice, trying his best not to thrust in deeper.
Sungmin was burning him, burning him from the inside out. He felt so good and Kyuhyun cried out softly in pleasure. Sungmin’s body arched up into his and the Weather Manipulator threw his head back as he felt the Universal tighten around him.
The two of them remained like that for a moment, allowing Sungmin to adjust to the intrusion of Kyuhyun. Then Sungmin nodded and the Weather Manipulator began to move very slightly at first, slow and gentle strokes that brought tears to the Universal’s eyes.
“Am I hurting you?” Kyuhyun asked worriedly. His Legacy reached out, searching for pain and discomfort.
“No, it’s perfect,” Sungmin replied in a strangled voice. He moved with Kyuhyun, their bodies mimicking each other. The Weather Extra adjusted his angle and thrust upwards. Sungmin let out a sound between a strangled moan and a soft sob. Kyuhyun’s Legacy told him to find a spot, find the spot that would make his Promised feel amazing. He found it not two moments later.
Sungmin let out a half-scream of pleasure and Kyuhyun smirked. He found what he had been looking for. Moving upwards at a steady pace, he continued to hit Sungmin’s sweet spot, causing the older male to let out throaty moans that did nothing for his self-control.
“God, Min,” Kyuhyun gasped as he moved within the Universal. It felt wonderful, so wonderful. His Legacy was burning with joy. He and his Promised were becoming one. Sungmin let out a sound halfway between a whimper and a gasp and Kyuhyun nearly came right then and there.
God, he needed Sungmin. His skin, soft and warm and sweaty slid against him as they moved together in tandem. He was so grateful for his Legacy telling him what to do. His mouth found Sungmin’s and he kissed the Universal deeply. The storm reached its peak, rain lashing at the windows and the storm clouds roiling with lightning and thunder.
Sparks exploded from behind his eyes and he could feel himself getting hotter and hotter. He looked at the Universal beneath him and nearly came undone. Sungmin’s face was flushed and vulnerable, his eyes half closed in pleasure and his cheeks pink with heat. Through the haze of his eyes, Kyuhyun could see an expression on the Universal’s face that made his heart go raw with emotion.
He could feel it. He was close. Judging by the Universal’s body language, he was close as well. He sped up his pace causing Sungmin to squirm in pleasure beneath him. He bent his head, panting into the Universal’s mouth, sharing their air.
“I love you, Min,” Kyuhyun whispered jaggedly.
The Universal reached up and wrapped his arms around the Weather Manipulator’s neck, pulling him down and closer.
“I love you too,” Sungmin answered so softly that Kyuhyun had to strain to hear him.
The Universal closed around him and Kyuhyun came, white painting his vision as he did so. He felt Sungmin shudder beneath him and heard the gentle gasp as Sungmin released.
He felt his Legacy respond rise up inside him, a wave of power building from within. It surged forward and thunder clapped overhead. Simultaneously, a lightning bolt struck the ground. Kyuhyun felt his storm merge with another. With Sungmin’s storm.
He felt another Legacy, a powerful and strong gift envelop his. They merged together. There was a wonderful feeling of completeness. Sparks popped and crackled. The two Legacies passed through each other, feeling each and every part, tangling themselves as one. And then they separated, leaving each Legacy lapping at each other like calm waves.
The two Extras breathed together as they began to recover from what they had just witnessed.
“Are you okay?” Kyuhyun asked leaning against his arm and using his left hand to stroke the side of the Universal’s face.
Sungmin’s breath came unevenly, his chest rising and falling quickly. He turned to look at Kyuhyun, a small smile crossing his lips and his lashes fluttering tiredly.
“Yeah, are you?” the Universal asked, getting his breathing under control. Kyuhyun nodded wordlessly. Sungmin’s eyebrows raised and he sighed softly. “Now you don’t have to worry about it anymore.”
Kyuhyun’s chest tightened and he wrapped his arms around Sungmin, holding him close. “I would have done this with you even if we didn’t have to. God, I’m so happy to be yours,” Kyuhyun whispered.
Sungmin reached up and brushed his fingertips against Kyuhyun’s cheek. “Thank you,” the Universal murmured, his eyes tearing slightly.
Kyuhyun breathed in and kissed Sungmin gently, his heart jumping with emotion as he did so. He loved the Universal. He needed him. He lay his head on the Unique’s chest and closed his eyes. He and his Promised were one. And now, he would never leave Sungmin’s side.

I’m sorry for taking ages to get this out. Real life is kicking my ass and I don’t like it. Hopefully, now that I’ve gotten things more under control, I can update faster in the future. I used to be so good at that. Anyways, I hope that you would all like this chapter. XD I had a lot of fun writing it. It’s been a while since I wrote a lime. I guess that’s what it is, it wasn’t entirely graphic. XD But regardless, I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading!
