LMAO anyway this is for you! (and Key hehehe) Happy birthday dear! ♥
Disclaimer: I don’t own the .gif and I don’t remember who made it LMAO so umm whoever made it on tumblr, I was just too lazy to make my own :’(

Key’s birthday was always a big deal. And it wasn’t because he made it that way -

“No, oh my God can’t you do anything right?”

--Well, alright, maybe it was.

“Oh come on Kibum, this is all we can do right now,” Jonghyun griped, putting his hands on his hips and furrowing his brows.

In their hotel room in a foreign city, Key was a bit put out that he couldn’t celebrate his birthday in their dorm, or at his favorite restaurant, or with the rest of the ’91 line, or at his favorite park, or even at his favorite boutique… well you get the idea. So the rest of the members were trying to make it as special as they could for him - they had celebrated a while earlier with the fans on stage in a different foreign city, and that had been fine and dandy because Key ate up all of that attention like it was a red velvet cake (but don’t tell him that).

But right now, in their hotel room that they all shared because for some reason they couldn’t get more than one and that meant sharing beds and one bathroom, everyone stared at Key while he wrinkled his nose up and shook his head and shoved Jonghyun rather violently to the side.

“I don’t like yellow cake!”

“What?!” Jonghyun barked, shoving Key in return.

“Please don’t fight!” Jinki stepped between the two, hands on their chests to keep them from advancing as he gave a strained smile. “Kibummie, I’m sorry, we couldn’t remember what kind of cake you like.”

Key sniffed, “White.” Then, he glared at Minho. “Tall Tree over here knows.”

Minho rolled his eyes and turned on the television to the sports channel, “I said yellow.”

“YOU DID THIS ON PURPOSE!” Key screeched, ready to leap at Minho’s throat and rip it out.

Taemin started cutting into the cake, dishing it up onto the paper plates, “Hyung, please have some cake.”

Key stopped his raging, turning to Taemin, whose eyes sparkled slowly with that one look he got whenever he said something and meant it and you better listen to him or else you might wake up with a dirty sock in your mouth. And quite frankly, Key didn’t like morning breath, let alone dirty-sock-morning breath, so he settled down and took a plate and a plastic fork, at least thankful that they remembered he liked chocolate frosting.

“Jinki hyung spent all afternoon baking this for you,” Taemin said, serving the rest of the members their cake.

Key nearly choked, “Jinki made this?” And the hotel didn’t burn down? And there weren’t mysterious particles in the cake like shards of broken glass from the cake pan or pieces of spatula?

Jinki smiled softly, blushing a bit and rubbing the back of his head as he waited for Taemin to hand him his piece, “Yeah… I mean. You all were out doing stuff today so I thought I would make myself useful…”

Key stopped eating, holding up his cake and inspecting it for anything suspicious. He peered over at Jonghyun’s piece, just to make sure, and once he was sure everything was ok, he continued eating. Jinki rarely ever stepped foot in the kitchen, but he had done so for Key while everyone else had gone out…

Taemin and Minho moved out to enjoy their cake on the balcony, and Key knew that Minho had suggested yellow cake because he liked it, that bastard. Key would put his hand in a bowl of warm water later while he was asleep. Jonghyun flopped onto the couch, watching the abandoned sports channel and chewing loudly, leaving Key and Jinki in the tiny kitchenette to eat their cake, Key fidgeting slightly as he wiped some frosting from the corner of his mouth.

“Thank you, Jinki,” he said finally, his voice soft so only the older man could hear him.

The way Jinki’s eyes lit up - because he knew that thanks was meant especially for him and no one else, because he knew that Key really was thankful that he risked his life in order to bake him a cake for his birthday in a foreign country - it made Key’s heart do a funny stutter in his chest and Key cleared his throat and moved to lean against the counter next to Jinki, their shoulders brushing, as they continued to eat Key’s unfavorite cake quietly with twin smiles on their faces.

Yeah, this birthday was a pretty big deal, too.
