They were jacks of their own trade, Jonghyun and Key. Everyone knew who they were, even if they didn’t know who everyone else were.

Many artists looked up to Jonghyun’s talent as a vocalist, as a lyricist - they wanted his advice, they wanted to collaborate with him, they wanted to be graced by his presence at least once, even if they didn’t really like him so much as a person. Men openly admitted to wanting to be friends with him, ladies listed him as an ideal type - he was perfect.

For Key, liking him was like liking a tart candy. After the first face-scrunching flavor explosion it was easy to settle into the sweet nectar that danced over the taste buds, but it wasn’t long before another bitter wave polluted the senses. It wasn’t a bad taste, but it wasn’t the best taste, and something about it was highly addictive and equally frustrating.

Together, they were like Bonnie and Clyde. They fed off of each other, taking turns drawing off one another’s energy to keep going, keep oozing whatever it was that made them so devoted to each other. They were partners in crime, demolishing whoever came between them and their goals - whatever their goal may be in that moment in time.

The relationship they had could have been Romeo and Juliet, if they had let it get that far. With Key’s teasing smiles, and Jonghyun’s lingering touches. It was the perfect poisonous combination that would have left them both dead at ‘The End’ and instead they kept dancing away from each other, keeping out of temptation but still thrusting themselves into it blindly, greedily.

Sometimes when Jonghyun would get close to Key when they were alone, his hands on the dancer’s hips, pulling him close so their torsos were pressed solidly together, their lips centimeters apart, the older man would spout nonsense, just to see Key’s reaction.

“You look good today,” he’d say sometimes.

Other times, he would just back Key into the nearest wall in lieu of saying anything, and that spoke volumes their hands pushed at each other, removing clothes and grabbing flesh and leaving shallow cuts on elbows and shoulders.

“Maybe we should go out on a date,” he’d say other times.

Key would roll his eyes, in the process of lifting one of his legs onto Jonghyun’s hips, rolling their groins together. “Why would you say that.”

“I don’t know,” Jonghyun’s smirks always caught Key off guard, no matter how used to them he thought he’d get. The way his lip curled, the way his sharp teeth shined - “I’m just saying whatever will get me into your pants faster.”

“Why don’t you try ‘damn you’re sexy let me fuck you’?”

Bonnie and Clyde could have been Romeo and Juliet, if they had ditched the crime and the sex and the booze.

And really, according to Jonghyun and Key, as much as they had to romanticize themselves for the majority of the female population due to their profession…

… Well, Romeo and Juliet’s life sounded pretty boring, don’t you think?
