like a color, I miss you

Ok I have a feeling this might very well be a long entry. I've spent the almost 2 hours driving home from the airport thinking of how I wanted to put all of this and well...ok...

This trip was fucking AMAZING. It met and exceeded my best expectations. I guess I'll start at the beginning. First comes the hour by hour recall. Then I'll go more into certain things.

Getting to Chicago was a pain in the ass. It just seemed like every little thing that could go awry or annoy me- did. I got into Midway at 2:30 but because of horrendous traffic and trying to find the damn Omega shuttle, I didn't get into my hotel until 5. So of course, I have to get ready at lightening speed. I was going to take the train to Loyola but it was so late that I just got a cab. Hello, hot and friendly taxi driver! It was a pleasant ride, but get those dirty ideas out of your head. So I show up at the university and I walk in and Sacha was sitting to the right and I went up to him and said hello and what not. We talked a little and then I went and got my seat next to Charles. Sacha came over a few times and talked with us, which was cool. He's very friendly and unassuming and...rather hypnotic. Eventually it was time for him to perform and...wow. He's so expressive and interesting in his performance. I was into it big time. He played a few songs from a future cd and they were really, really good. He also did a rendition of "Hit Me Baby One More Time" and it was fantastic. He totally Sachasized it, and it worked. I got a kick out of that. Then, towards the end, he starts to play another cover. And guess what it is. "With or Without You". I was floored. Connections, connections everywhere! I'll get more into that later. Anyway, after the show we took a bunch of pictures and then went out to dinner. Matty was here at this point, arriving towards the beginning of the show. Eventually we all had to go our seperate ways but there was some good dinner conversation and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Sacha next week because I didn't get into half of what I wanted to with him.

So Matty and I went back to the hotel, got ready, and cabbed it down to Boystown. We were feeling pretty good at this point...haha. Anyway, first we went to Hydrate which was cool. We were there maybe an hour or so before going to Berlin. By the time we got to Berlin we were pretty drunk and had a blast there. It was definitely a strange crowd. But it's true, Chicago residents are nicer. Everyone was quite friendly. And sometimes, *friendly*. At 4 the club closed so we cabbed it back to the hotel again. Once there we were up for hours, getting into all sorts of trouble. Somehow we managed to stay up to 6:30 so we could get some breakfast. After inhaling that, we passed out until noon.

Once we showered and whatnot on Saturday, we took the El downtown and walked around. That was really cool. I love the city, it reminds me so much of Philly but different enough to have it's own appeal. We were starving after awhile so we hunted down a restaurant and ate a Chicago pizza. YUM! After that, it was back to the hotel for Tarot and then get ready to go out again. I'll get more into the Tarot later.

We took the El back to the city and I thought I was all smart, knowing where to go but we got fucking lost. Roaming around Halsted st. SOUTH. Creepy. So we ended getting to the bars late again. We hit up Spin first, but there were a ton of lesbians and we weren't feeling it. Then we headed over to Sidetracks which was fun. I think after that we might have gone to Roscos...is that the name of it? I can't really remember if we were in there or not. Too many shots! haha...but I do know we ended up at Hydrate again. We weren't planning on that but I'm glad we went because we had a better time than Friday night there. We drank some more, danced until about 4:30 and then headed back to the hotel. Once there, it was check out and to the airport and...voila..now I am home.

Ok SO.....Matty and I got along extremely well. It was as if we had been friends for years. It was crazy how well we fit together. He's such a fantastic person- there were many wonderful conversations and laughs and I hated to leave because I felt like then there would be something missing. I feel very blessed, very very blessed, to have him as a friend and have him in my life. That's such a simple way of putting it. All the momentum and depth and gravity can't be expressed through words. It's crazy, really. Crazy in a good way because...again...connections, affirmations, and purpose.

Last night he gave me a Tarot reading. It was HEAVY. I mean...wow. Right on. I was completely floored and almost felt like I was in another reality. It showed me everything I already knew for the most part, and encouraged me to keep going in the direction I have been taking. It linked everything together- even Casey was in it. Of course he was, since he has played a pivotal role in my life lately. So the reading was incredibly live-affirming. I felt very close to the spiritual world at that point. If I reached out my hand and closed my eyes, I might have sunk through space and touched the outstretched hand of Michael.

I know I'm going to look back on this post and think I sounded like a nut, but I'll just blame it on maybe an hour of sleep and a ton of excitement and realizations.

So for my birthday, I will be in Minneapolis. I'm really looking forward to it- not just because of Matty and Doug and others there, but because I've wanted to check out that city for awhile. Someplace new :)

Incidentally, while we were at one of the clubs, a dance song featuring "With or Without You" came on. As Matty would say, "Synchroicity". (sp?)

I think this weekend was, overall, one of the best experiences of my life. It blended together all realms of thought, emotion, and existence. It and they were exactly what I have needed.

Pictures from the Sacha show, as well as many pictures of Matty and I in various states of inebriation will be up shortly. I'll post a link when I'm done. Eventually tonight I will have to put the Sacha show pictures on crushingthrough.com but in the meantime I will probably put them on Flickr.
