This is why surprise parties suck.

I got a phone call here at work asking for Michelle. This always weirds me out if I don't recognize the voice, so I'm all like "Uh, yeah, that's me, I guess." The person is "80," best friends with A. I'm struggling to think of an A I know since I don't know anyone named 80, and I'm coming up blank. Turns out 80 is calling to invite me to a surprise party for A's 30th the day after Thanksgiving; do I want to go? I'm all, "Um, I think I'm free that evening..." noncommital-like since I still have no idea to whom I'm talking or about whom we're discussing. She takes my email address and promises to forward me all the information.

So I check my email. It was Kate E*, best friends with my coworker A who turns 30 the same day I do. For some reason they're having the party super early; I guess it'll be more surprising that way. I almost ruined the surprise by discussing my strange strange phonecall with A. Fortunately, I put two and two together before that moment, realizing that the mystery person and my coworker had the same name. But still. Bizarre. And now I'm supposed to come up with contact info for coworkers and suggest other people to come, all on the sly. I suck at stealthy.
