Locke isn't Locke, but the monster Ben had gone to for judgement.
Everything happens for a reason, Ben still remembers.
And he realizes: during judgement, it had been this monster imitating Alex, entangling his heart and her fake heart so his plan would succeed.
The saddest part: her furious eyes and fierce tone had seemed so familiar, when it wasn't.
The choice: feel ashamed (for not recognizing his own daughter) or angry (for being just a tool).
He chooses the latter.
The reason: he doesn't want to beg for anymore forgiveness.
