To Everyone!
This is a call for donations to benefit the family of Todd Butler. Todd was a visual artist and musician who died last fall from complications of Behcet's disease, leaving his wife, Clare, and three year old daughter, Kitty. He was a talented painter, illustrator, sculptor, guitarist, vocalist, and composer. Having mastered a variety of painting styles, his art displayed a highly skilled technical ability with the human form. He placed a high standard on visually conveying his deep connection with his own emotions and the feelings of others.
Recurring themes in his art dealt with the passage of time and memory, placing a newfound importance on what was once casually disregarded. He also contributed to radio shows with his extensive collection of found audio. Todd was well loved for his kindness, understanding acceptance & his true sweet gentle spirit. His amazing talents and wacky sense of humor were but a bonus to those of us who had the lucky pleasure of his company. Donations in all categories will be welcomed! Visual art is being highlighted but we would love to have objects and services as
well...or anything that would be appreciated by Todd's 'special' taste (if you knew Todd, use your own judgment). Please help us to make this night a success. Paintings, sculpture, furniture, massages, hair styling, dog walking, vacations, dentalwork, kid-squatting(aka baby-sitting), & more.... ...all are welcome.
Donate, come have a great time, and know that you are helping Clare and Kitty during this extremly rough & tough time.
If you are still at a loss of what to donate, we also need food (chips, cookies, lasagna??) for everyone to enjoy at the event. If the kitchen is not your area... ...got some time?? pick up, drop off, set up &/or breakdown assist will be most appreciated & welcomed. This will be a one night event featuring a silent auction from 7pm to 10pm.
There will be a non-auction area of various objects of interest (many for $25 and under). A donation jar will be available as well. All funds raised go to benefit Todd's family and to the foundation for Behcet's disease.
Hubcap City(from Belgium) will play sets throughout the night. In between sets, DJ Brian McGreevy will play music featuring Opal Foxx Quartet, Smoke, and other music that Todd collaborated with. PushPush Theater will provide drinks for sale.
To donate: Contact Lisa, Mandi, or Alice (see contact info below). We can arrange pick-up or drop off between now and April 7th. Donations can be delivered to PushPush Theater on Apr. 8th or 9th...but we urge you to deliver or have us pick up prior to Apr. 8th (call or e-mail Lisa, Mandi, or Alice at contact info below). We will hang or arrange the art or items into areas that 'make sense'.
We would love to include you on the publicity flyers for this, so please let
us know ASAP if you will take part. Chris Verene, R. Land, Cindy Zarilli,
Bill Taft, Alice Nisbet, and LiShinault are just a few who have already agreed to donate their art.
