Occasionally my urge to gamble forces me to make the drive down to AC & every time I hate myself for going there. I would love to see your grandparents photos if you ever decide to post them.

With the hair and the seashell, '24 really reminds me of a mermaid. I dig that look! It really is a shame that pageants have reversed themselves from the natural beauty these girls had. I'm curious, did you also look at the later years of the pageant? I wonder how gradually it shifted towards the overly made-up look we think of "beauty queen"...

That is the exact reason why 24 is a favourite, I'm a bit of a sucker for mermaids. And her hair reminds me of mine, and anyone who can tame that sort of hair into something that looks good is a hero of mine.

I did a second post going up to 1955, but didn't look any further than that, going past the mid 1940s I start to veer out of my vintage time frame. I had a suprisingly hard time dealing with the girls in the 50's since they already started to veer into that perfect "Barbie" type look. 1946 - 1947 is when I feel it starts to go into the overly made-up look of today in my opinion.

The trophy in the last one is surreal - I love it!

I really like that 24 & 38 got clam shell trophies, it makes sense with the pageant being on the seashore, but it's still funny. 1940's is very unique though, lol.
