I hate how ubiquitous the term "word" is getting.
word.
werd.
w3rd.
w0rd.
However you want to spell it.
It annoys me for two reasons:
1. I'm a longtime hip-hop head, and I've been using that word as an everyday part of my vernacular for several years. It's almost a slap in the face to hear some people use it, because they're just mocking it.
2. When something becomes trendy, it immediately starts to tarnish in my eyes. I feel like a poser whenever I start to say "word" because of all the dipshits that use the term nowadays.
Even the whitest of the white kids I know say "word" now. They aren't even hip-hop. They just say it because everyone else does. It's just just online either. When I was in Bloomington, everyone there was saying it. (Keep in mind these are kids that listen to crap like Linkin Park and Evanescence.)
I used to catch so much flack for saying "word" back in the day, now some of the same kids that used to tease me for my word usage are probably sitting at their frathouse saying "word, dawg. Fo' shizzle." Fuckin' wanks. ^_^
