Last night I saw Ms. Pettigrew Lives for A Day at the dollar theater and it was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be!! It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time--Lane and Allison and I were cracking up the whole time while the rest of the audience seemed pretty immovable, up-tight fuddy-duddies. I went into the movie thinking it was about a governess in London, but it turned out to be about a "social secretary" who ends up fixing peoples messy lives--a lot like Amelie, while getting hers fixed in the process. It reminded me a lot of Mrs. Dalloway as well since it takes place all in the span of one day, as the characters get ready for a party (plus it takes place in London). Anyways I would highly recommend it!
After that the other Friday night adventures included almost running out of gas and getting lost on the way to Victorians, scrapping drunk people off our table and fielding questions on chess from bystanders who all seemed a) drunk, b) on drugs, or c)both. All in all though it was fun, and my mom yelled at me for getting back late and almost sleeping in to noon so all it all that made it all the more successful :)
Right now I am finishing up my finals for OSU, a testing class on language teaching and a portfolio for my observation class (which less face it, was the most valuable class so far--probably because the majority of the hours were spent not in the classroom listening to a boring teacher drone on for hours on end in a non-pedagogically sound manner, but actually out in the field). I am so ready to move out though... and Dublin is killing "me softly" with the slow decision making process. Now they are saying they won't know about jobs until the middle of the summer--and I definitely don't want to wait that long, I want to know if I will have a job by then! So now of course I am applying not only for more jobs in Oregon, but everywhere else in the world, and of course some international possibilities as well. I could use an adventure at this point.
This is really sad but, I am actually enjoying sitting here and working on my testing final--it's actually a welcome change from stressing out over jobs...
