Chilling in the Honors office before class listening to Life is a Highway and having just been told "Hey, you're in charge until you leave." Does life on a Thursday get much better?
Also about to go meet Real Author of the week, Ethan Canin. For a class, but still, he's a Real Author with Published Books. Six of them. Over the summer I had this moment in the bookstore where I stood in the fiction section and wondered what it must be like on the other side of reading, the writing side, having a fragment of your soul in print on the shelf for others to pick up and read and analyze in their minds.
