So I had to write this 8 page creative paper thing last night. Fake ancient Greek legal speech thing. So I sit down at about 9 pm. And I do it. Took about four hours, but I'd gotten fairly into it so it wasn't bad.
Then I tried to save. And my computer informed me, in no uncertain terms, "NO U". Otherwise known as a "this application is not responding, would you like to end program or just let it continue to sit there hanging, either way I ain't going back to letting you at your text so you can at least copy it to the clipboard" error.
And for the next five minutes or so, there was a glorious stream of four letter words coming from my mouth. Mostly, of course, aimed at my own absent-mindedness, because I ought to know better than to write that much without incremental saving.
Well anyway, that being over and done with, I got to write the whole damn thing over again. Saving after each sentence. At least I had the idea in mind of what I wanted to say, but I still had to go through and get all my fancy phrasing right again.
Ah well, three hours of sleep makes for fun times. Could be worse, at least I was an idiot early enough that I had *time* to redo the whole damn thing. Kinda like leaving my headlights on. Or locking myself out of my apartment. It's a very good motivation to develop preventative habits real quick.
