A twig cracked under his boot as he strode around the perimeter of his estate. He had learned to trust Narcissa's instincts, and she had felt that there was danger. He protected what was his, always, and so found himself in the darkness of night, eyes adjusting easily to the shadows cast across the estate.
He tensed, noting a muffled sound, like a whisper. Silently, now, he moved towards it, and found a man clad in black prowling around the woods.
Lucius smirked. One of the wards would soon be activated, and he'd get to watch a bloody show.
