Villain OTP?

I'll admit, I'm in love with Crowley/Aziraphale (Good Omens) and Alucard/Integra (Hellsing). But those pairings are more anti-hero + anti-hero than strict villain + hero. Those are evenly matched; they're snarky but care-- though they'd kill you before admitting it ( Read more... )

I totally love Crowley/Aziraphale.
It's also the perfect example how excellent two characters can turn out if you don't follow the ancient recipe of Good guy vs Evil guy.
Heroes have a sad tendency to be one dimensional and, quite frankly, boring. Why not add a little spice and make them, oh I don't know, interesting?
A fallen hero is much more intriguing than the knight in shining armour who can do no wrong.

I could not agree more. One of the other things that bugs me is how, whenever a hero tries to show maturity or deepness, they just end up being really angsty. Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker come to mind. Another reason they wouldn't be good in relationships.

Yeah. I took a moment to see if I could think of a hero that wasn't angsty and none immediately came to mind. I'm sure they exist.............. Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

All I know is that with villains, you never have to deal with whining. Only the occasional dramatic monologue.

If only, IF ONLY, they could stop the monologuing and get on with the hero killing... *sigh*

Okay, yeah, thanks. Just spent far too much time pondering on this now!
Seems like a hero minus angst automatically equals anti-hero?

I donno. I think it'd be really sad for heroes if that was true. Maybe it's just that modern writers are so stereotypical now? Remember all those dead Russian authors who wrote so that you never knew who was the villain and who was the hero? Those were the days.

Oh, absolutely! I stand corrected! Dostoevsky is among my favorite authors.
