Villain OTP?

Oct 18, 2007 21:10

I'll admit, I'm in love with Crowley/Aziraphale (Good Omens) and Alucard/Integra (Hellsing). But those pairings are more anti-hero + anti-hero than strict villain + hero. Those are evenly matched; they're snarky but care-- though they'd kill you before admitting it.

But my real quandary is this: does anyone else ever feel villain + hero OTPs are incredibly forced and disappointing?

Snape and Harry?
Hook and Pan?

I'd like to think my villains are better than that. The heroes are like vanilla-flavored air; I'd assume that'd carry into the bedroom as well.

I see the argument, but I've read too many fics that follow the same theme: "villain and hero meet, they instantly hate each other, there's violence/yelling/whatever, then they realize they're really in love and are the perfect pair. The villain corrects his ways and they live happily ever after with lots of butterflies and hugs and puppies."

Why can't the villain seduce the hero to the bad side? Or maybe find a saucy co-villain and have little villain babies?

Am I being lame about this? Help me out here.
