I've actually had a few congratulatory "you passed your belt test" gifts from my dad's friends today. I do love rites of passage (now).

The big present, though, was from my parents, and it's that awesome BOB [Body Opponent Bag] freestanding punching bag I wanted.

I have my pain sheet all filled out for physiotherapy tomorrow, so in a month or two I'll be able to get started in training again. (Not the crazy hours I was doing this time around, though...I'd like some time not spent bruising myself.

I finished Will Storr vs. The Supernatural. Surprisingly good read, actually.

I had a few issues in some of the more personal-introspective bits, particularly the later ones where the research seemed to lose its sense of humor and curiosity for a while. Also, there were some things I thought he could have devoted a little more time to for the sake of really figuring them out, like the religious aspects of superstition, the Ouija boards, and television psychics. The ending seemed a little less rounded out than the rest of the book, and though I can see why he ended it where he did, it seemed really abrupt, especially compared to the other chapters. I wish he'd explained why he wasn't allowed to let the Baptists know that he was British, too. Were they terrified of the British or just journalists with accents?

Anyway, overall it was really interesting, and I like his style. If I had a list of recommendations, it'd be on it, and I'll probably be picking up any future publications by him. (I'd like to find whatever article he was writing where he got deported from Los Angeles.)

Dinner now, kthx.
