Theme Nineteen: Tears~
They fell from her eyes before she even knew she was emotional enough for them to fall. Why did she pick now to cry? When the tears normally were so hard to come by, when the feelings were numbed over, why did her body decide now in front of so many people to cry?
“Sayuki…”
She looked up and wiped her eyes, the blurriness was still there and she hated it. “What? I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine.” Yori said sitting next to the girl, “You’re grieving.”
“I don’t want to grieve, I don’t need to…All I need is to get back to work.” She said trying to move when Noriko forced her back down.
“Sayuki, you just watched our father die, right before your eyes. You’re not going to work…look at you don’t you even realize you’re crying?”
Sayuki closed her eyes and willed the waterworks to stop, “I am fine.” she said softly before she stated it over and over again the tears stung her eyes as she tried to stop when she opened her eyes she glared.
“Why did he allow this to happen? Why was I the one to watch him? Why…Why didn’t he tell us something was wrong?!” Sayuki screamed and then started crying with earnest. Yori rubbed her back while Noriko patted her sister’s leg.
“Sometimes, things happen for reasons we can’t understand imotou.” Yori said softly, “It’s not your fault.”
“I could’ve…I could’ve…done…I tried…” she hiccuped and as she cried. “My fault.”
Noriko squeezed her sister’s knee, “It’s not your fault! What could you have done?”
“Noriko…”
“Iie! Sayuki, you don’t get it do you?” Noriko said angrily, “You could’ve died as well…Otou-san saved you and instead of being grateful you’re angry at him and yourself! Just Stop it.”Noriko got up and away from her two sisters, Yori watched her go along with Sayuki who stayed with Yori.
“I’m sorry for all the pain I’ve caused.” Sayuki said, “She’s right, I normally don’t even cry.”
“When you don’t noticed your tears…is the time when you most need to cry.” Yori said hugging her, “Don’t worry about Noriko, she’ll come around…she’s still young.”
