To begin I am listening to a Mugglenet podcast on a review/discussion of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows review.
Mugglenet is a Harry Potter website, for those of you who don't know. Go check it out, really. It's a great website.

The new music score for HP7 sounds amazing. It has the right touch of darkness and angst needed for this film.
I believe this is because the new composer is French... If you've ever listened to orchestral music made by a Frenchman... very deep, very moving, very colorful. There isn't much of a "stand out" instrument that has it's own personality but the music has never been that way. Everything works together to create this piece of art. What the hell does this have to do with the score for Harry Potter? Well many people are relating the music back to the original composer John Williams. His work has a very strong personality for every song. This man wrote the score for Jaws, Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Of course his music has a strong personality. You can easily hum the tune for any of those movies and many more he has composed for. This includes Harry Potter. The new composer has his own paint and his own canvas for the movie. I think his score, from the short clips released, is extremely appropriate and will fit the movie. The tone sets the mood for the scenes and gives us a visual to play with (this is assuming the track title is the scene title, for example "Lovegood" when we first meet Luna's father). I honestly think his score will bring a new tone to the first half of the final enstallment, which is exactly what we need. This last movie is not going to be like the others. It's darker, deeper and holds more emotions. The music needs to fit that, and I believe Alexandre Desplat will do an amazing job.
