Supernatural fic rec post?

So I'm curious: I know a lot of my flist doesn't seem to care about Supernatural, but I've read massive amounts of good fic for the series over the years. I'd love to make a fic rec post, but on the other hand, I'm afraid I'd just be wasting hours chasing down links and correcting HTML for nothing. So, a poll to help me out:

Yes, rec posts are awesome! Except the fandom really isn't that scary. ;) We have our percentage of crazy people like any other fandom, it's just that the number is bigger because the fandom is so big.

I love reccing fic, but each time I do it takes hours and hours for me to compile links, refresh myself on fic I liked but haven't read for ages, and correctly input all the html in my journal. I want to make sure that if I do one in my lj I won't be talking to air, if you will. :)

Well, you are totally right about the fandom. But for people who like SPN but haven't joined the fandom, it's like looking at an apple that hasn't been washed; the mud on the outside is disgusting, but inside is delicious crunchy goodness. All the batshit crazy of the very vocal SPN fandom is what people see from the outside, but underneath is some of the most fascinating fanfiction, meta, and fandom discussion. Sometimes you just need someone to wash off the apple first. :)

Epic Rec Post is Epic. I can't say that I'm confident I found too much Castiel genfic that hasn't already been recced to the nines, but I did manage to fit roughly 36 fics into this post. Two of them are yours, er. ♥ Hopefully you'll find something new that you like!

I love Supernatural but really haven't gotten much into the fic side of fandom, not so much cause of the crazy as the sheer amount of Wincest. Just really not my thing. Find me a good genfic in any genre and I'll be happy as a clam.

Yeah, the Wincest is hard to avoid - unless you're a Dean/Castiel fan, and I have to admit I'm not exactly that, either. I honestly haven't dabbled much in the Dean&Sam end of the fandom for several years so most of my recs will be older fic; back then, the fic split between gen and wincest was pretty much 50/50. But I know I can find some really delicious genfic for you to sink your teeth into, so I'm glad I can help!

I will read basically anything, featuring any character/s, but I am especially partial to episode codas and missing scenes.

And the fandom does actually scare me. :|

*nodsnods* I read a lot of episode codas/missing scene fic so you'll see some of that for sure.

The fandom doesn't have to be scary! But that deserves a rec post all its own. Finding the non-scary places can be a bit daunting (and I'll confess I haven't even tried on the Dean&Sam side of things), but there's a lot of wonderful things in the SPN fandom. :)

I suppose it doesn't, but I spent so long reading about blow-ups in Supernatural fandom before I started watching the show, it's hard to shake off my fear. It's true that I've found some wonderful people and things, though, with my tentative explorations.

I am in the weird situation where I sort of half watch the series and spoil myself shamelessly for the rest, but don't involve myself in the fandom at all, so yes, a recs post would be very helpful!
